Instructor Bio

Ellie Brannan

Why do you teach?

I teach because Krav Maga it is a skill that is impactful on everyone no matter your age, gender, or occupation. I’ve experienced the effects of training going far beyond my physical skill and into my emotional and mental well being. The improvements I’ve made through training Krav Maga have made me a better person, and I want to pass that positivity on to others.

Job outside Krav? Insurance Billing

What are you most proud of? My marriage to a kick ass husband

Hobbies, what do you do for fun or to relax? Hit things, hiking, and spend time with my husband and my dog Dakota.

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is… Your happiness is a choice, not dependent on your circumstances.

What advice would you give a member getting ready for their first belt test? Figure out your motivation. Tests are more mentally challenging than physical and you will need to have that reason why you fight in the front of your mind when things get tough. Also, stay hydrated!

Cats or dogs? Dogs.

What’s the most inspiring part of being an instructor? Seeing the side effects of training Krav Maga benefit people off the mats. I truly believe the impact goes far past physical ability, whether that be an increase in confidence, discipline, or just being apart of a community that cares about you.

The most important thing I learned before high school was:  how to throw a punch

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be: teleportation because I’m a bad driver and gas isn’t cheap.

When I was 5, I was pretty sure when I grew up I’d be a: Ninja turtle.

Favorite Pizza toppings? Lots of cheese.

Tell us one fact about you that not many know. Before Krav took over my life, I played the flute. My favorite memory from that time was performing with the Detroit Symphony in Orchestra Hall.
